WHILE some politicians have spent weeks knocking Europe, children at a Bacup primary school have loved learning more about it.
The European Awareness Week was organised by Mrs Susan Riley who teaches year-one pupils aged five and six at Britannia Primary School.
She said: "We are trying to raise the children's awareness of other countries and cultures and we thought this would be a fun thing to do and a good introduction."
Mrs Riley's class learned all about Spain, how to say 'my name is' and 'how are you' and how to count from one to ten in Spanish.
They also learned about the country's geography and money and looked at holiday brochures and sent postcards. To round-ofF the week's activities they even got to eat paella.
Other countries explored by the pupils were Italy, Ireland, Holland, Greece, Germany and France.
When the children 'moved' from one country to another they took their passports with them and got them stamped.
