LAST year's English under 16 Fell Champion Katie Ingram has had few chances to practice her skills this season, but fell racing is continuing abroad and she is hoping to be selected for the Black Forest Teenager Games in Germany next month.
Last year she returned from the games with one silver and two gold medals, but this year she will be on a post GCSE's holiday when the trial is held.
She is still hopeful as one place is to be awarded at the discretion of the selectors, and the young Chorley Harrier proved her form and fitness with a storming run in the Horwich Harriers Uphill Road Mile last week which came days after her Lancashire Schools 3000m victory.
The trial will be held at Castle Park School, Kendal (on the Sedbergh Road) this Sunday at 1pm. It is an uphill race of 1.5 miles with 350 feet of ascent and because of the foot and mouth outbreak it is on tarmac. It is open to juniors born in 1984 to 1989 inclusive and entries will be accepted on the day.
