THE senior girls and ladies of St Helens Sutton AC took part in the most recent round of the Northern Women's League held on the track at Edge Hill College, Ormskirk.
There was nearly a full turn-out of under-15 year girls with them all tackling either two or three events.
Jodi Nelson again did well, running the 800 metres in 2 mins 34.6 secs, and throwing the javelin 21.83 metres and the discus 17.44 metres. Caroline Morley ran 13.1 secs for her speciality 75 metres hurdles and also ran 200 metres in 29.2 secs, and high jumped 1.27 metres.
There were also good performances from Anna Sheffield, running 100 metres in 14.3 secs, long jumping 4.12 metres and throwing the discus 11.99 metres.
Good support came from Sarah O'Donnell, who ran 200 metres in 29.3 secs and long jumped 3.38 metres, Christine Tickle, who put the shot 6.52 metres and threw the javelin 7.18 metres, and Rachel Pitfield, who ran 100 metres in 15.5 secs and put the shot 5.22 metres.
The 4x100 metres relay team of Anna, Caroline, Rachel and Sarah ran the event in 56.9 secs.
The three senior ladies present covered as many events as possible. In the 100 metres, Joanna McNally ran 14.1 secs and Catherine Lambert 14.7 secs. In the 400 metres Joanna ran 64.4 secs. and Cecilia Fitzsimons 86.8 secs. In the 800 metres Catherine ran 2 mins 54.4 secs and Cecilia 3 mins 11.8 secs.
In addition, Joanna ran the 400 metres hurdles in 70.7 secs, Catherine long jumped 4.16 metres, and Cecilia ran the 3,000 metres in 13 mins 13.2 secs.
