RAINFORD skipper Andrew Robinson's hot-streak continued on Saturday and with it the performance of his side as they combined to brush aside an under-performing Eccleston outfit in a match sponsored by Winstanley's Off-Licence.

The visitors arrived amid the hustle and bustle of another fun-packed walking day fixture but it was their batsmen who went on a roller-coaster ride as the Rainford attack tore into them from the start.

Only opener Hailwood (60) had any answers as Harrison (two wickets), Curran (three), Robinson (two) and Donnelley (three) all hit their straps to dismiss Eccleston for 133.

The reply was less than 16 overs old when Rainford passed their target to claim a nine-wicket victory. Robinson again led the way with a whirlwind 72, receiving excellent support on the way from 'find of the season' Dom Carter who impressed again with an unbeaten 49.

This victory puts Rainford in good heart as they prepare for this week's double header against Southport Trinity (league) and West End (Sandhurst Shield).

The seconds put up a spirited display in forcing a draw at Eccleston. With only three senior players at his disposal skipper, John Williams used all his cricketing know-how to take the game all the way after Eccleston had posted a total of 240-2 against a willing but inexperienced attack.

Alan Maddison and Michael Lambert then put on 70 for the first wicket to lay the foundations. It wasn't cavalier cricket but under the circumstances just what the doctor ordered as the Eccleston bowlers battled for a breakthrough. A mini-collapse then took place but the middle order held firm as Rainford eased to 90-5 at the close.
