IT'S time to strike up the band at The Citadel Street on Friday, June 22 when members of the St Helens Music Collective will be on stage from 8pm.

AND on Saturday, June 23 from 1pm The Citadel and Tyrers Department Store, Bridge Street will be holding a special in event in Milk Street (which links the two) to celebrate the unveiling of two mosaics which have been created there by Bernadette Hughes and local youngters. There will also be music and street performers and light refreshments will be available. Meanwhile, anyone who took part in the mosaic workshops last summer is asked to contact The Citadel on 01744 735436.

THEN on Saturday evening from 8pm, The Bisserov Sisters, a Bulgarian trio, will present the music of the Prin Mountins at the Waterloo Street venue.

WHILE from Monday, June 25 to Saturday, June 30 The Interplay Theatre will transform the Citadel into a series of inflatable chambers to take the audience on a journey through music, song, movement and dance with their presentation 'Song from the Sea'.

LOOKING a little way ahead, Bee Gees fans are in for a treat when the great tribute show, 'Stayin' Alive' comes to the Theatre Royal, Corporation Street on Sunday, July 8.

THE World of Glass is presenting a Needlecraft Exhibition in the Reflections Gallery until Wednesday, July 11 from 10am to 5pm (hours subject to change, please telephone to confirm). Featured in this are Christine Currah's award-winning crochet, the Millennium Cape, featuring scenes from the past 1,000 years, and the magnificent 'Summer Garden' king-sized quilt created by the St Helens Patchwork Group which is being raffled to raise funds for Willowbrook Hospice. THE Annual Newton Music Festival will be held from Friday, July 20 to Sunday, July 22 at Mesnes Park, Park Road North, Newton-le-Willows. The event features, bands, solo artists and a brass band. Further details available from 01925 221790.
