CLEVELEYS primary school teacher Ruth Calderbank was not content to go the extra mile for charity. She went the extra 26 -- and together with her pupils at Manor Beach primary on Manor Drive, raised £500 for Blackpool Victoria Hospital's Macmillan Windmill Appeal.
Ruth, who is a member of Blackpool and Fylde Athletic Club, was sponsored by her pupils to run the London Marathon. She ran a personal best of 3hrs 52min and on her return took her medal and marathon mementos into school and talked to the children about her experience.
Ruth, who has now run three marathons, said she wanted to support the appeal because it is local and is such a good cause.
She added: "I was quite delighted with my run. Possibly I will do another marathon, but I don't know when.
