IT'S going to be a lovely week in Blackpool next week -- at least that's what one famous actress is hoping.
Stephanie Beacham, well known for her role as the powerful Sable Colby in Dynasty, is coming to Blackpool for the first time to star in a romantic comedy at the Blackpool Grand Theatre.
And she is looking forward to sunshine and fun with her family. "I'm not hot on sheets of rain," she explained. "And my daughter Phoebe and my grandson who is only a year old will be with us and I want to see him on the donkeys!"
Blackpool will be quite a change from her Los Angeles home, I suggested. "It is one of the most famous place in England," she countered, obviously looking forward to her stay here. "Touring is wonderful for visiting places you have never been to," she added.
The theatre is just one of Stephanie's many loves. "I like to ring the changes. I shall want to do something on film next."
And it could be dramatic. "I prefer to see deep into people's souls in films and television," she explained.
But this versatile actress is currently tackling romantic comedy in Nobody's Perfect, the tale of a male writer who pens a book under the name of Myrtle Banbury so he can enter a feminist publisher's competition.
When he gets a call from publisher Harriet (played by Stephanie) offering prize money and a contract, writer Leonard (played by playwright/actor Simon Williams) has to pretend he is Myrtle...with hilarious consequences!
Stephanie said: "You laugh a lot during the evening, and somehow or other you care about the characters. Simon Williams has written a very clever play because it leaves an audience very happy."
Catch Stephanie in Nobody's Perfect at the Grand from June 25-30, with matinees on Wednesday Saturday. For tickets phone the box office on 290190.
