A 17-YEAR-OLD Gloucester youth has been charged with the murder of a man in Blackpool whose body was discovered wrapped in bin bags in the boot of a car in Gloucester last week.

The body of 36-year-old David Staunton -- who died from multiple head injuries and stab wounds to the back -- was discovered in a car parked outside an address in Tern Close, Gloucester, on June 14.

Mr Staunton -- known in Blackpool as David or Colin Hunt -- was originally from Gloucester but had been living at a flat on Grasmere Road, Blackpool, since May 18 this year.

The first floor flat has been identified as the scene of the alleged murder and was examined by forensic experts this week.

Mr Staunton had been working in the catering business at a number of places in Blackpool prior to his death.

An incident room has been set up at Blackpool and a team of officers led by Det Chief Inspector Cath Benn is liaising with detectives in Gloucestershire.

The 17-year-old suspect, who has not been named for legal reasons, appeared at Blackpool Magistrates Court on Monday.

He was remanded in custody and will appear before magistrates again on June 26.

Lancashire Police said that no other people were being sought in connection with the alleged murder.
