DRAMA awaits a Lytham St Annes girl in July -- because she hopes to be joining the National Youth Theatre!

Chloe Postlethwaite, a Year 11 student at Lytham St Annes High Technology College, is one of just 180 pupils picked from 4,000 applicants to join the NYT this summer, in the technical department.

She won her placement after a successful interview in Manchester during May. She impressed NYT organisers with her portfolio and props she made during her drama studies at school, including a Banquo's Ghost mask for Macbeth, and a goblet.

After a brief induction course next month, Chloe hopes to attend a full summer course in London to learn prop and costume making -- as long as she can raise the money to cover costs.

Chloe said: "It's such a big opportunity. I can't believe it's happening to me -- I feel fantastic.

"They have got halls of residence and it's going to be a bit nerve racking living in London."

The 15-year-old is saving money from her waitressing job, and her family are helping her out financially, but she fears she won't be able to attend the whole of the course.

"I will be disappointed if I can't go. The only problem is that it's going to cost a lot of money. But I have been doing some research and writing letters to grant-making organisations," she said.

And the go-getting teenager, who has just finished ten GCSEs, plans to carry on her studies at sixth form in September.
