HEROES' souvenirs have been put on display to ensure they will never be forgotten.
The servicemen's honours board, which for the best part of 30 years hung in Leigh Royal British Legion Club, has been refurbished and put up at Leigh Town Hall.
This week, Leigh RBL branch vice-president Bert Paxford was at the town hall for the unveiling of the plaque and paid tribute to the work of Leigh East councillors Keith Cunliffe, Brian Jarvis and Mrs Anne Turnock, who sanctioned Brighter Borough funding for the refurbishment.
Mr Paxford said: "They have made a nice job of this -- we are very grateful."
Coun Jarvis told him: "My father was a soldier and we were only too happy to help.
"When the RBL club closed it looked as if the plaque would be going to Warrington. I'm pleased we were able to do something to keep it in the town in honour of those heroes."
