MEET Charlie! She could soon be a very familiar face to millions of TV viewers as she bids to become a children's presenter.
Charlotte O'Horo is only 16 but she has bags of personality and character -- as bosses at CITV will find out when they view her promotional video.
The Burnley teenager is a Lancashire Member of the Youth Parliament, a young editor of community free paper Burnley Life, plays lead euphonium in the award-winning Towneley High School brass band, by the way, and she is completing 11 GCSEs at the same time!
Towneley's director of networking Chris Puckett said: "Charlie has always said she wanted to be a TV presenter and so I fixed up for her to go to Earl Street studios for a day and she went round learning all about the TV world and getting advice and tips from everyone.
"I told her to look on the web to see if there were any TV companies with vacancies for presenters and she found the one for CITV.
"We had just a couple of days to get the video together so we approached the Hollywood Star pub, who opened up early so we could use the Wacky Warehouse.
"The opening shot is of Charlie bursting out of the ball pool like a Jack in the box and she says: 'Hi! I'm Charlie!'"
From there she shows how musical she is but the euphonium was a bit big so instead she picked up a cornet and blew a note. Chris continued: "Then she picked up a mask said, 'Here's one I . . . oh you know the rest,' she then chatted to her friend about enjoying sports and went on the slippery snake slide, which gave her the chance to get serious and talk about animal welfare.
"We ended the video with a shot of her saying what she liked best and, whereas people might expect her to say puppies or kittens, she shouts out 'chocolate cake!' and stuffs her face."
Charlie said: "It was well good. It was like being five years old again, going in the ball pool and down the slide!
"We went up a day before to see what was available but I didn't have a script because it wouldn't have been me and I wanted to come across naturally.
"My friends are well chuffed for me -- I am just keeping my fingers crossed."
The video took just over an hour to shoot and Charlie and Chris have thanked the Wacky Warehouse for allowing them to use the facilities.
