THE Lancashire Constabulary Rugby League side fell at the final hurdle in the National Police Competition.
Despite a determined performance they were unable to overcome a bigger more experienced West Yorkshire side boasting 11 current British Police squad members. The match played at Dewsbury saw the Lancashire side, led by Wigan St. Pats, Gary Lowe tackle themselves to a standstill. The consistent Bamber Bridge Bulldogs prop Andy Cooper gave a typical gritty, hard working display, which saw him put in 80 minutes of hard tackling and hard yards.
Lancashire's player coach Peter Bridge said, "This game saw the reputation of Lancashire Constabulary's rugby league side enhanced. We surprised a few people and we will now be considered a force to be reckoned with in next year's competition."
