MARKET traders have helped brighten up Darwen town centre after a collection to buy new hanging baskets.
The whip round was organised by market attendants who collected £56 after stall holders donated £2 each.
The money has been used to buy seven hanging baskets which have been put up outside the bus station.
Bosses at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council were so impressed with the idea they have also contributed another seven baskets to the display.
Market attendant Kevin Eccles said: "The people of Darwen have got a nice view outside the market now and it's brightened up the bus station as well. "It's fantastic the council chipped in just by the traders helping themselves in the first place."
