A ONE-DAY course for would-be sports leaders will be held in Darwen tomorrow.
The Junior Sport Leader Award (JSLA) and Community Sport Leader Award (CSLA) are run by the British Sports Trust and the one-day tuition day will provide an introduction to both programmes.
The CSLA course provides skills in leading groups in sporting and recreational activity. It encourages participants to take responsibility for others and develops organisational and communication skills. The JSLA provides a starting point for young people, aged 14 - 16 years, who want to develop leadership skills such as planning, organising, communicating and motivating.
Within schools the JSLA can be used to compliment the national curriculum for PE and it also compliments the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and TOP Link.
The training day at Darwen Moorland High School costs £35 and is being jointly organised by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.
