A GROUP of elderly residents in Chesham Fold are too scared to step outdoors at night because of loutish youths, councillors were told.
Now fed-up occupants in Griffin Close are calling for a permanent warden to be re-instated, claiming they did not feel as safe with a mobile warden service.
Some residents told the latest meeting of the Bury East Area Board that troublesome youngsters regularly threw stones, mud, eggs and sticks at their windows.
Resident David Gomm said: "The elderly people are getting a raw deal. They are too frightened to open their doors after 7pm."
Councillor Trevor Holt, board chairman, said the warden issue would be taken up with the council's head of sheltered housing Andrew Crawford.
He added: "We will also get together with the residents of Griffin Close to discuss their problems, and invite the police to be present."
