IN THEIR penultimate game of the season Chorley Lynx slumped to their 12th consecutive defeat at the hands of play-off hopefuls Dewsbury Rams at Victory Park.

As with other games this season, Lynx were their own worst enemies with at least six of the visitors tries coming from Lynx's handling errors or from needless penalties.

Lynx started brightly and were unlucky early in the game to be brought back for a forward pass with the try line at their mercy. Dewsbury went ahead in the ninth minute with a Barry Eaton penalty after Lynx were caught offside. This was soon extended with three tries in nine minutes through Adrian Flynn, Matthew Griffin and Dan Potter with one conversion from Barry Eaton as Lynx showed their usual generosity in gifting tries to the opposition.

Dewsbury were now in complete control of the game and further tries in the 24th minute from Richard Pachniuk and on the half hour from Adrian Flynn with antoehr conversion from Eaton, put them in a commanding position.

In a disappointing first half performance Lynx's only worthwhile effort came three minutes from the break when Chris Ramsdale just failed to reach his own kick through, leaving them trailing 26-0 at the interval.

Within a minute of the restart Dewsbury had touched down again through Nathan Graham and once again the move stemmed from Lynx losing the ball early in the tackle count. Four minutes later a DEan Lawford grubber kick should have been cleared to safety but as the Lynx defence dithered, Matthew Griffin took advantage to score his second try of the afternoon. Barry Eaton added both conversions to extend Dewsbury's lead to 38-0.

Lynx then had their best spell of the game coming close on numerous occasions, the closest being in the 50th and 59th minutes when Chris Ramsdale and Phil Harrison both lost control of the ball when over the try line.

On the hour mark Dewsbury borke out of defence and Matthew Griffin was on hand to complete his hat trick with Eaton adding yet another conversion. Lynx eventually made their pressure count. In the 66th minute when Mike Prescott scrambled over and in the 74th minute when Stuart Dickinson collected his chip over the Dewsbury defence to score a fine individual try, Paul Wilcock adding just one conversion.

Dewsbury had the last word on the stroke of full time when Kevinrouthers broke clear to touch down under the post with Barry Eaton rounding off the scoring with his sixth conversion of the afternoon.
