THE schoolchildren who are "the future of Blackburn and Darwen" were rewarded at a Celebration of Achievements ceremony in front of hundreds of parents and teachers at King George's Hall last night.
The event paid tribute to the efforts of young learners from primary schools, secondary schools, homework centres, the youth service, Blackburn Rovers' study support centre and the borough's pupil referral unit.
It was the third annual celebration and as pupils received certificates there were musical performances by other youngsters.
The leader of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Councillor Bill Taylor, said: "It has been yet another year of progress that has culminated in the authority achieving a fantastic Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) report. "Our schoolchildren are the future of Blackburn with Darwen."
Mahfooz Hussain, executive member for Education and Lifelong Learning said: "This event recognises the hard work undertaken by everyone."
