HUNDREDS of people attended the Wishbone Orthopaedic Walk, a maximum one mile sponsored walk at Witton Park, Blackburn, in aid of orthopaedic research in Blackburn, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.
Organised by the NHS Trust the event provided a fun day out for all the family.
There was a fantasy slide, face painting and tombola for the children while adults were kept entertained by a brass band, raffle and wide range of stalls.
Radio Lancashire celebrity Sally Naden, host of the 'Happy Daft Farm' programmes, launched the event which included former orthopaedic surgery patients, young and old, plus many others who wanted to help raise funds for research.
Altogether there were 137 official walkers plus their family and friends and more than £5,000 has been raised although more is expected to come in.
Half the money raised by the event will be available for local orthopaedic projects and the other will half go to the central fund at the Wishbone Trust to support research projects all over the country.
