SEVERAL people have appeared in court following the Burnley riots.
Asad Aftab, of Branch Road, was accused of possessing an offensive weapon on Monday and was bailed until 11 July with a condition of residence.
Alhaj Mahmud of Crossall Close was charged with possessing an offensive weapon on Tuesday and was bailed to live out of the area until 11 July. Farooq Beg of Grey Street, was bailed until 2 July on condition he lives at his home address. He was accused of possessing an offensive weapon on Monday.
Martin Blackburn, of Albert Street, was remanded on bail until 11 July, with a residence condition. He is also accused of possessing an offensive weapon. Philip Holmes, of Hunslett Street, was accused of breaching the peace on Monday and his case was adjourned until 4 July to fix a trial date.
James Pennington, of Cardinal Street, was charged with two counts of possessing an offensive weapon on Monday. He was bailed with a residence condition until 11 July. All the above defendants live in Burnley. Lee Smith, and Darren Fishwick, both of Warwick Drive, Padiham, were accused of criminal damage on Monday. Both were bailed until 11 July on condition they live at their home addresses, do not enter Burnley and observe curfews between 6pm and 8am. Fishwick is also charged with a public order offence.
