THERE were panic stations at Ruskin Drive when Vikings had to start their match with Haydock with half their team at the wrong ground!
Although the 'lost' players eventually made the game, Vikings had to start with just six batters. Haydock were ahead after the 1st innings by 5-3 PI , largely down to Lisa Warburton and Bev Bentham, but Vikings eventually bagged the two points with rounders from Helen Murtagh (2), Tracey Cribbin and Julie Aspin.
Grasshoppers' Carol Wilkinson, who had resigned herself to the role of supporting batter and assisting her team's scoring with a constant supply of half-rounders, finally hit the jackpot against Canterbury Belles and hit two rounders in one game.
Only four teams entered the Nat West tournament in which Windle secured their first piece of silverware of the season with Canterbury Belles creditable runners-up.
