PRESCOT & Odyssey Cricket Club achieved an emphatic victory over high-flying Cheshire Lines last Saturday.
The P&O skipper was able to stick to his pre-meditated game plan when he won the toss and put the Lines in to bat on a wicket resembling a shag pile carpet.
Spin twins, Alan McComb and Ian Wilkinson soon had the home team in disarray. The batsmen were unable to fathom the mixture of leg spin and googlies from McComb and the accuracy of Wilkinson.
At one stage Lines were 33-7 off 33 overs, their tail rallied but when Cartmel thew down the stumps with a direct hit from extra cover Cheshire Lines were just 89 all out, Alan McComb picking up an excellent 6-27 off 25 overs.
There were few scares in the P&O reply. Vernon went early, Nige Pearl (14) was unlucky to be
given LBW and Greenwood (20) played over a straight one to be bowled.
Skipper Oughterson (31 n.o.) and his vice Keeble (17 n.o.) eventually took the team to a well-deserved and much-needed victory.

attack young James Taylor who took 5-18. Bill Ewen also picked up two wickets.
P&O easily reached the target with Steve Edwards scoring a solid 61 not out. Skipper Lockwood scored 20 and with others chipping in with teens, victory was secured by six wickets.
