AN independent Bury FC supporters organisation will be officially launched at the Met Cafe Bar, Market Street, Bury, on Saturday at 3pm.
BASE - Bury's Alternative Supporters Enterprise - has been set up by a dozen die-hard Shakers fans and has already attracted more than sixty members.
The group, that boasts former Shakers Jamie Hoyland and Wayne Entwistle as honorary patrons, hope to co-ordinate away travel and gain representation at board level through the purchasing of shares within the club.
Assistant spokesperson Gary Corcoran said "While we realise there is already a Supporters' Association that has established links with the club we believe that through our independence we may be able to represent fans over issues the official association may feel unable to address.
"Both organisations have a vital role to play for Bury FC supporters and we see no reason why we cannot both 'do our bit'.
Having already gained sponsorship from a nationwide recruitment company for its first year, BASE are able to offer interested fans FREE membership to all those who share their interest.
Those requiring details on how to join should attend the launch or send a stamped addressed envelope to BASE, 76 Albert Road West, Heaton, Bolton BL1 5ED.
