MYSTERY still surrounds the future of Radcliffe Cricket Club, following an extraordinary general meeting.
Monday's (June 25) gathering was prompted by rumours that there were "hush hush" negotiations to sell the 109-year-old club's Racecourse ground to a builder and relocate.
Speaking afterwards, club chairman David Halliwell, said: "There are still a lot of things to discuss with our members and with Bury Council before we can make any public comment. We don't want to upset anybody with half a story."
He added: "I can say however, that the matters discussed were nothing like people have been saying."
Mr Halliwell said that a statement could be expected within the next four weeks.
Although the club has been in debt for some time, it is not in a position where it has to sell the land in order to raise money.
