A NEW self-help group for lone parents is to be set up in Radcliffe.
The national charity, Gingerbread, operates groups which offer fun activities for children and adults, but up until now, single parents in Radcliffe have had no opportunity to join in.
That was until mother-of-two Mrs Tricia Warburton (47) became a lone parent herself.
"I couldn't believe it when I discovered the nearest Gingerbread group was in Horwich. That's what made me decide to set up a group for local parents in Radcliffe," said Mrs Warburton, of Cams Acre Close.
"I'm very excited about setting up this new group, it will be good to get together with other parents and get some great trips happening."
An information evening is planned for July 12 between 6.30pm and 9pm at the Bridge Methodist Church Resource Centre, Milltown Street.
"Anyone who is bringing up children on their own and would like to meet other parents in the same situation is welcome to come along," said Mrs Warburton.
"The bigger the group, the more exciting things we can all do."
