LAST weekend's weather was ideal for a trip to the Lake District -- unless you were playing in Blackpool CC's first XI!
Batting first at Kendal, in their Bay 96.8 Northern Premier League game, Blackpool lost opener Richard Lamb with only five runs on the board.
Mark Lomas and Martin Pickles staged something of a recovery as they put on 53 for the second wicket, but when Lomas was bowled by Kendal professional Khan for 47 the innings went into decline. They went from 101 for 3 to 160 all out and Khan finished with five wickets for 28 runs.
Blackpool's bowlers struck back quickly, claiming three Kendal wickets by the time the home side had reached 28. But Hunte (49) and Howarth (59) steadied the ship and Kendal passed Blackpool's total for the loss of five wickets.
