LIFEBOATS, police helicopters and coastguards were called out on an early morning search to find a woman who had jumped off a Blackpool pier this week -- only to discover it was a false alarm.
Police at Blackpool received a call at about 2.05am yesterday (Wednesday) saying that a woman had jumped into the sea from North Pier.
A full search of the area was carried out, involving two lifeboats, a police helicopter, the coast guard and police officers.
The search was called off when the woman was located safe and well at a Blackpool address.
