A CUDDLY constable literally dropped in to join the fun at Bury's cop shop.
Constable Cub, GMP's force mascot, is pictured abseiling from the roof of the Irwell Street police headquarters during Sunday's (June 24) open day.
Crowds revelled in the glorious sunshine for the chance to see the borough's finest girls and boys in blue in action during a series of displays and exhibitions performed by every section of the police force.
The Tactical Aid Unit showed off their head for heights by leaping from the top of the local nick, the dog display team risked life and limb by allowing their highly trained canines to attack them in a number of different scenarios while the Greater Manchester Police band entertained the thousands who turned out during the day with their selection of modern and military tunes.
However, one of the highlights for visitors was a visit to the custody area for a glimpse of the cells. Youngsters also had the chance to have their finger-prints taken and inserted in key rings.
Event organise Inspector Paul Crosbie said: "The police station was buzzing all day. It was a huge success and the public enjoyed the chance to take a behind-the-scenes look at life at the police station.
"The event started at 10am and there was never a quiet moment during the next six hours.
"Everyone involved in running the stalls and the displays had a great time too."
