TRAINING is commencing for the Sahara Challenge, which is to take place next year in aid of Mencap.
The multi-discipline, seven-day event involves a combination of mountain biking, running, scrambling, 4x4 off-road driving, navigation and a mystery challenge.
The Sahara Challenge, which will raise money for people with learning disabilities, is taking place in February 2002 and isn't for the faint hearted.
Mencap spokesperson Jonny Lee Miller said: "It is the ultimate event and it's going to be tough. It'll take guts, initiative, determination, stamina and teamwork."
The endurance event is perfect for cyclists and runners wanting a new challenge. Beginners are also welcome and will be supported all the way.
To join you must raise a minimum sponsorship and pay a deposit of £300. For an information pack call 0845 977 7779.
