61PRESTON North End bosses are warning rival clubs that players are not for sale.
The move comes after Wolverhampton Wanderers offered £3 million for PNE star striker Jon Macken. Two weeks ago Wolves revealed their interest in the young player by making a verbal offer for him. After this approach was refused the team made a written offer.
When Wolverhampton's plans were made public North End Chairman Bryan Gray assured shocked fans that his team were not interested in selling any players, let alone a key goal-scorer like Macken.
The public were assured that PNE's days of having to sell players to make ends meet were over, and instead they were looking to strengthen the side ready for another Premiership attempt.
So far North End have been linked with two failed bids, for Carlisle striker Scott Dobie, and more recently with Newcastle United's Kevin Gallacher.
