LANCASHIRE County Archaeological Service has arranged a series of visits -- called Walk Past 2001 -- to a number of archaeological sites, historic buildings and ancient landscapes within East Lancs.
This year the walks are mainly based around urban areas and will be led by local experts with in-depth knowledge.
The ancient market town of Blackburn is the subject of the walk on Sunday, July 8.
This will include buildings of architectural and historic interest around the cathedral precinct and on Church Street, Darwen Street and King Street.
Meet the walk leader Richard Newman outside the west door of the cathedral at 2.30pm.
The walk will last between one and three hours and is free.
However, places are limited and can be reserved by telephoning 01772 263404.
Suitable clothing, including waterproofs and appropriate footwear, are recommended.
