COMPETITIVE fathers and sons are wanted for the 'Howzat' summer Cricket programme.
The scheme, run by Lancashire County Council in partnership with the England and Wales Test and County Cricket Board and Lancashire County Cricket Club, aims to change boys attitudes to reading and bring out an interest in cricket.
Fathers will be encouraged to read books and newspaper articles related to cricket with their sons. A recent study found that fathers spend an average of just eight minutes a day with their children.
Each 'Dad and Lad' team will be given a Howzat reading file.
Rudra Singh, former Indian Test Cricketer and current LCCC Schools Development Officer said: "Reading is not only fun, but it boosts your chances of getting a good job when you leave school."
Organisers are hoping the summer event will be as successful as the first seven week scheme. Anyone interested in joining the summer scheme should call Simon Crashaw on: 01772 263511.
