CHILDREN from an Atherton high school will be spending one of the last days of term behind bars this week.
Year Nine pupils from Hesketh Fletcher CE High School will spend Wednesday locked up at school as part of their citizenship lessons.
During their "imprisonment", they will attend a variety of workshops designed to show them how they are responsible for their own actions.
George Heydon, who is an officer from Hindley Prison, is lending his expertise during the day.
School citizenship co-ordinator Rachael Hawkrigg said: "The children usually enjoy spending time at places like Alton Towers in the last week of term, but this lot will be doing time behind bars.
"I'm sure it will add up to an interesting experience for them and one which they won't want to repeat!"
