PUPILS at Park High School, Colne had a taste of working in the real world when they took on the roles of government officials and reporters.
The year nine students took part in an industry day in which they were split in to groups to deal with a hijack situation.
They were given advice by industrialists and training providers who came into school for the day.
English teacher Andrew Conroy, who organised the day, said: "It went really well and everyone enjoyed themselves. Some of them were in the role of the Cabinet dealing with the hijack and the rest were reporters, editors, picture editors who had to attend press conferences throughout the day.
"The best newspaper at the end of the day won a prize. The event followed on from work that English department has been doing on newspapers."
