JOHN Chapman held his nerve to hit the winning runs as second in the table Bacup survived a tense conclusion against fifth placed Rawtenstall at Lanehead.
Needing seven to win, Chapman hit a four and a single but had to watch as Rawtenstall professional Matthew Mott claimed his sixth wicket dismissing T Farragher, and then skipper Neal Wilkinson fell to a controversial lbw decision off the bowling of Andy Payne.
Bacup needed two runs off the final over with no wickets to spare but Chapman came up with the goods to seal his side a vital one wicket win in their bid to reclaim the Transco Lancashire League crown.
Rawtenstall still picked up five points thanks largely to Mott, who hit 74 in Rawtenstall's 161-9, supported by Payne who made 43, while Bacup pro Sean Young picked up 5-59.
Lanehead openers Peter Thompson (42) and David Ayres (49) set the pace with Matt O'Connor making a steady 25, but Mott kept a firm grip on things taking his first ever five-wicket haul for Rawtenstall, finishing 6-32.
Matthew Nicholson was among the wickets taking five as Todmorden secured a thrilling victory against Enfield.
Todmorden set their visitors a target of 208 to win with Richard Baigent top-scoring with 70.
Enfield appeared to be struggling on 83-3 after 31 overs but recovered thanks largely to Mark Greenhalgh hitting Dearden for 20 off one over, while Neil Holmes hit Nicholson for 14 off another.
It left Enfield needing 26 runs off the last four overs with three wickets remaining, but Nicholson took centre stage and cleaned up to give third-placed Todmorden victory by two wickets.
Burnley took the points off arch rivals Nelson thanks to the batting displays of Ian Whitehead and pro Dale Benkenstein.
Chasing Nelson's 175-7 total, Whitehead and Ben Law put together an opening wicket stand of 56 before Wingfield claimed Law's wicket for 30.
But Whitehead and Benkenstein went to make a match-winning partnership of 100 -- with the opener scoring 61, while the paid man was unbeaten on 58.
Earlier, Nelson pro Wade Wingfield top scored with 45, while Paul Garaghty (42) and Marcus Phelan (42) also turned in solid batting displays.
Steven Holden claimed three wickets but Nelson's misery was complete when bowler Lincoln Marshall collapsed in agony and was taken to hospital with a back injury.
Marcus North made an unbeaten 90 as Colne ran out comfortable five wickets winners over Lowerhouse.
North held firm at the crease as he struck up a good second wicket partnership with Gary Hunt (38) and, although Hunt fell, the pair had done enough to help their side to victory.
Earlier, skipper Matt Hope (41) and Chris Bleazard (54) had made major contributions to their side's 146 all out with the rest offering little support.
Stand-in pro David Callaghan, a South African from the Northern League who came in for one game now the injured Jon Kent has returned home, only made three although he did chip in with two wickets -- but it was all to no avail
for the Liverpool Road side.
Accrington wicketkeeper Matt Wilson will be kicking himself after dropping a difficult catch off Church professional James Bryant.
The Australian was in single figures but went on to make a crucial 61 which eventually sealed the win for Church.
Damien Clarke and paid-man Tama Canning both took four wickets apiece to restrict the Blackburn Road side to 137.
It looked within Accrington's reach but only Adam Greenwood was able to make a real impression making 46 although Church did have a late scare as Greenwood and Nsz Hussain put on 51 for an eighth wicket partnership.
But the real hero of Church's attack was Tom O'Neill who took 6-40 as Accrington finished 19 runs short.
Brad Hodge hit a mighty 128 as Ramsbottom won their basement battle against Haslingden.
The Aussie right hander smashed 16 fours and two sixes as the Acre Bottom side recovered from opener David Bell going for a duck to run up a 244-6 total.
Tommy Read made 59 runs while Mark Dentith was also among the runs, notching 28.
Haslingden in reply gave a good account of themselves with Ian Austin (40), Neil Grindrod (27), Michael Ingham (47) and Paul Blackledge (37) all performing well.
But Mark Price and Hodge took seven wickets between them to help bowl Haslingden out for 219.
