A POPULAR music and fireworks charity fundraising event has been given the all clear after months of doubt because of the foot and mouth crisis.
'Symphony at the Tower' will be staged at Hoghton Tower on Saturday July 14 and organisers are hoping to match last year's event when 4,000 people attended and raised over £20,000 for St Catherine's Hospice in Preston.
The foot and mouth crisis meant the event was under threat, but MAFF has now given the go-ahead for the event which features the Northern Chamber Orchestra Symphonia conducted by Edward Peak.
The event takes place on Bastille Day and there will be a French flavour to the programme. However, the evening will finish with Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory, accompanied by a magnificent firework display.
Tickets, adults £16.50 in advance, £18.50 on the night, children £8 in advance, £9 on the night, area available from the hospice, telephone number 01772 324540.
