REBECCA White finally cleared the elusive 13 metres -- but will have to do it all again to make the Commonwealth Games team as the triple jump was judged illegal due to wind assistance.
The Haslingden athlete leapt to 13.09 in the AAA's Under 23 National Championships at Bedford on Saturday -- winning the competition by over a metre.
Rebecca's previous best was 12.84 and the 21-year-old was aiming to break the 13m mark so she could qualify for the Games in Manchester next year and the breakthrough would also mean she could apply for more money from the lottery.
But, because of the tailwind, Rebecca, who is at University in Bath, will have to smash the barrier again this weekend when she competes for her club Sale Harriers at Windsor.
If not, she will have a couple more chances to do it this summer -- and will be determined to seal the third spot behind Ashia Hansen and Michelle Griffiths for Manchester.
But missing out this weekend may mean she will not compete in the European Under 23 championships in Amsterdam in a fortnight's time.
The team is announced this week but Rebecca needed to break 13m to secure a spot so it looks like Great Britain will not be sending any ladies triple jump representatives.
