A FAMILY break started in style for one Bury family with a holiday snap to knock the stars and stripes off all the rest.
Portugal-bound David and Doreen Willis, of Springside View, Bury, were sitting in the departure lounge at Manchester Airport with grandson Harry Stainton (3) when to their amazement former US president Bill Clinton breezed by.
Chartered surveyor David (58) said: "I think we were the first ones to spot him. My wife approached him for a picture when he came out of a shop.
"I said good morning and introduced him to my grandson. He bent over, touched Harry's hat and said hello."
Mr Clinton, in Europe on a speaking tour, even asked one of his bodyguards to take the photo.
Harry's mum and dad John and Helen, looking after younger son Jack, aged 20 months, missed out on the photo opportunity, but they shook hands with Mr Clinton as he met other travellers.
David added: "You could almost see Mr Clinton lift himself when people came up to him.
"He does seem to enjoy meeting people."
