DETECTIVES are hunting a taxi driver who sexually assaulted an 18-year-old female passenger.
The terrified girl was left in a distressed state after her nightmare car ride during the early hours of Saturday morning (June 30).
Her ordeal started when she jumped into a taxi outside the Chicago Rock Cafe in The Haymarket, Bury. She was indecently assaulted by the cab driver who is described as an Asian in his thirties.
Police are now keen to speak to two men who are described as being in their fifties who saw the girl get out of the taxi near to the New Inn in Ainsworth Road, Radcliffe, at 12.30am on Saturday.
Det Sgt Lynn Vernon, who is leading the inquiry into the attack, said: "One of the men went up to the girl and asked her if she was okay. She was in a state of undress and was too scared to talk. The girl ran home and alerted us to the attack."
The taxi was last seen making a u-turn in Ainsworth Road and heading back towards Bury. It is described as a white, four-door saloon car.
Anyone who can help police with their inquiries into the incident should contact DS Vernon at Whitefield CID on 856 8212.
