A NELSON pub is enjoying the success of its fastest-growing drink - coffee!
Pubs chain JD Wetherspoon's has seen sales of the beverage increase by 25% to 50% in 500 of its venues.
John Clayton, manager of the chain's Station Freehouse, Nelson, has been running the pub since it first opened as a Wetherspoon's outlet.
He said: "We have decided to cut our prices even further because the coffee is doing so well.
"We are hoping people will come in more often with the savings that they will make.
"Coffee sales here are doing really well and is helping to draw in more customers, because the coffee is set at an affordable price for people to pay.
"The good weather is helping sales, because people are buying a cup of coffee and then sitting in the beer garden.
"The coffee is brilliant because it gives people the opportunity to come into a pub and enjoy themselves without having to drink alcohol."
Wetherspoon's spokesman Eddie Gershon, said: "Over the past two or three years there has been a complete change in lifestyle and the arrival of the so-called 'coffee culture'.
"We have upgraded our coffee making machines and the liquid itself, and have experienced dramatic growth in sales as a result."
