CUSTOMERS at the Crown Optical Centre had to look twice when they saw Brian Leybourne collecting 200 pairs of spectacles.
Brian, international chairman of Blackburn West Rotary, collected the glasses on behalf of Vision Aid Overseas, the charity which supplies spectacles to third world children.
They will now be sent overseas to mobile eye clinics where the glasses will be dispensed by volunteers to those who need them.
The 'ready reader' glasses were donated after Sharon Smith, manageress at the Blackburn store, read about the charity.
She said: "We had all these spare glasses at head office, so we thought instead of throwing them away we would donate them to a worthy cause."
