AFTER pedalling 1,000 miles across the country during the past two weeks, Colne teacher Malcolm Redford is back home.
Malcolm, 48, of Woolpack, cycled from Land's End to John O' Groats to raise money for the National Autistic Society and hopes to have raised several hundred pounds.
The cause is dear to him as his brother-in-law suffers from the condition and he has done a lot of research into it.
Malcolm, a supply teacher, had just two rest days throughout the fortnight and spent one of them climbing Ben Nevis despite being concerned before he set off about putting too much pressure on his knee.
He suffered a serious knee injury 20 years ago and still suffers pain so for the first couple of days he took it easy and worked with his right leg.
He said: "It was a unique experience linking different places not only geographically but with the memories I had of going there before or of relatives living there. One day I ate my sandwiches in a churchyard in Edenfield where my children were christened and another I went past a place in Cornwall where my parents spent their last holiday before my mother died.
