WEEKS of road closure and temporary traffic lights got in drivers' way on Shadsworth Road, Blackburn, while work proceeded at its junction with Sett End Road to create the splendid new roundabout that now graces the spot.
Before, it was just a humdrum T-junction, with the branch from the main road serving traffic coming and going from the Shadsworth Business Park.
Now, it's still basically a T-junction -- but with a big new roundabout plonked on the spot, taking vehicles nowhere different from where they went before, as the road-sign pictured above shows.
But for its looks alone, this magnificent new obstacle must be terrific value for money -- just like the superfluous 'T-junction' roundabout built at the other entrance to the industrial estate, whose prime function seems to be that of driving folk needlessly round the bend.
