A RAWTENSTALL woman who allowed herself to be carried along with a plot to cheat a store three years ago was finally brought before magistrates on a warrant.
Sarah Jayne Ann Williams, 21, of Bury Road, Rawtenstall, was before the bench at Rochdale admitting the theft of clothing and spirits worth £65 belonging to Tesco Stores in Rochdale in May 1998.
Williams had actually pleaded guilty to the offence some 18 months ago but had then failed to attend a subsequent hearing for sentencing.
The magistrates accepted that Williams was not the instigator of the conspiracy between a friend and a checkout operator to swindle Tesco but had gone along with it. They therefore gave her a conditional discharge for two years but ordered her to pay costs of £55. Two other women have already been dealt with.
