DAVID Currie's light-fingered exploits landed him in cells when he was detained by two members of the public.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Currie was seen approaching houses on Observatory Road, Blackburn, and trying a garage door.
But defence solicitor Kevin Preston said Currie had been drinking and the next thing he remembered was waking up in a police cell.
"When he was arrested he had a fried chicken meal in his hand which he had just purchased," said Mr Preston.
"What he had in his mind when he was seen going down the drives in that road we will never know."
Currie, 25, of Hareclough Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to attempted burglary with intent to steal.
He was sent to prison for six weeks which, because had had served three weeks on remand, meant he was due for immediate release.
The magistrates imposed the sentence after hearing that at the time of the offence, Currie was on two sets of bail, and subject to a community punishment order and a community rehabilitation order all imposed for offences of dishonesty.
