A BURNLEY man with a fascination for motorbikes could not resist when he saw a 400cc Honda left in Taylor Street, Clitheroe, with the keys in the ignition.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Robert Matthew Whitehead sped off on the bike when spotted by police and when he finally stopped told officers they would not have caught him if the road had been dry.
Whitehead, 33, of Lanark Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to taking a vehicle without consent, aggravated by dangerous driving, and driving without insurance.
He was ordered to do 100-hour community service, disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined £50 and ordered to pay £65 costs.
Richard Taylor, defending, said Whitehead had fallen to temptation.
