BURNLEY Council engineer Darren Paul Hunt attacked a car belonging to the man his estranged wife was seeing.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Hunt caused £983-worth of damage to the vehicle during the incident in Read but had since lodged payment in full with his solicitor.
Hunt, 36, of Sunderland Street, Rosegrove, Burnley, was bound over in £200 to keep the peace for 12 months, a charge of criminal damage was withdrawn.
Margaret Duckworth, prosecuting, said the car belonged to Andrew Morley and the attack had been witnessed by Carol Hunt, who was seeing him at the time.
Nicholas Dearing, defending, said Hunt had 'lost his reason' when he committed the damage.
"He has been receiving treatment and counselling and realises what he did was wrong," said Mr Dearing.
