A MOTORIST seen driving erratically in Padiham town centre was more than twice the legal limit, a court heard.
Burnley magistrates were told how Stuart Ryan, 29, was spotted by officers turning into a road and then running into a house.
The lower of two breath tests showed 82 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath -- the legal limit is 35.
Ryan of Station Road, Padiham, admitted driving with excess alcohol and was banned for two years, with a fine of £150 and £55 costs.
Philip Turner, defending, said Ryan had been stupid and now realised that. He lived across the road from the police station.
The defendant had been indoors, had been drinking and decided to go to the off-licence before it closed. The shop was 200 to 300 yards away, within walking reasons, but for reasons best known to himself, he got in the car and drove.
