SKY TV is to team up with schools in the area to run soccer roadshows. It is hoped the roadshow will act as an incentive for children to improve their attendance. Coaching staff from the world famous 'Bobby Charlton Soccer School' are running the roadshow in partnership with Sky, which till take place at the Preston Sports Arena, Tom Benson Way, Preston. It will involve 150 boys and girls from several local schools.
Commenting on the roadshows, operations director of Bobby Charlton Soccer School, Ian Bateman said: "Education is crucial to getting a good start in life. The roadshows are not about finding the next Michael Owen, but are a great way of encouraging both boys and girls to go to school and to improve their school work."
Ben Stimson, head of corporate affairs at Sky said: "Sky is a strong supporter of grassroots education and sports initiatives. The Sky Soccer Roadshows are one of the ways we can demonstrate our support and our commitment to motivating kids and improving education standards through sport.
