THE Preston skyline is to light up in a medley of colour when the sixth Firework/Symphony Concert perform at Hoghton Tower in aid of St Catherine's Hospice.
The concert, provided by The Northern Chamber Orchestra Symphonia, will blast off on Saturday July 14 and has been dubbed a "joyful, spontaneous, invigorating and classy music-making".
This year the conductor is Edward Peak who has worked with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and made many radio and television appearances -- the second half of the concert includes his arrangement of BBC Comedy Classic theme tunes. As July 14 celebrates Bastille Day, there is a French flavour to the programme with popular pieces by five French composers.
As always the evening finishes with Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory accompanied by the usual magnificent firework display, choreographed to the music by Millennium Pyrotechnics.
Last year, despite the rain, some 4,000 people enjoyed a wonderful evening and raised more than £20,000 for St Catherine's hospice.
For every group of five tickets paid for, you get a sixth free! They are available from the Guild hall box office 258858 and the appeals office on 324540.
