A 46-YEAR-old Oswaldtwistle man died as a direct result of a rare natural, degenerative disease which caused a chemical imbalance in the brain.
An inquest heard that Stephen James Lane, of Havelock Street, appeared to be making a good recovery in hospital after suffering a stroke which left him in a coma. But his mother, Eunice, told the inquest that just when she thought her son was recovering she received a phone call from Queen's Park Hospital to say he had passed away.
A post mortem examination revealed the cause of death to be bronchopneumonia due to the neurological condition.
Recording a verdict, coroner Michael Singleton, said it was the natural disease, for which Mr Lane had been treated for a number of years, which had caused the chemical imbalance and led to his problems and eventually his death.
